SNUH to operate National Transportation Rehabilitation Hospital on a consignment basis from Oct. 1

Bang Moon-seok, a professor of rehabilitation medicine at Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH), will take office as the head of the National Transportation Rehabilitation Hospital on Oct. 11. Seoul National University Hospital will operate the National Transportation Rehabilitation Hospital for five years on a consignment operation basis under the agreement, following the Catholic Medical Center.

The National Transportation Rehabilitation Hospital was opened as the first medical institution under the wing of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in October 2014 with the aim of implementing public health care for people with disabilities after traffic accidents.

The National Transportation Rehabilitation Hospital is operated in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province with a floor area of 42,506 square meters and a total of 201 beds, consisting of about 300 staff, including 15 doctors. Last year, 37,182 outpatients, 63,418 inpatients and 9,263 in day rehabilitation patients were treated.

The ceremony for launching consignment operation of the National Transportation Rehabilitation Hospital by SNUH will be held on Oct. 11.
