The following New Year Message was contributed by Ambassador Ramzi Teymurov of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Seoul for publication by The Korea Post.?Ed.
As we have already embarked on a new year with our readiness for more active and further developing cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Korea in the fields of trade and economy along with other spheres, I am confident that we will enjoy bilateral relations as an outcome of mutually beneficial cooperation that will be forged by joint efforts to deepen above-mentioned ties.
As the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan mentioned in his address to World Azerbaijanis, Azerbaijan managed to maintain the pace of social and economic growth in 2015 by consistently implementing state programs and infrastructure projects covering different areas. And Azerbaijan plays an important part in the implementation of the ambitious transnational energy transportation projects linking Europe with Asia and North with South.
Last year Azerbaijan hosted a major sporting event - the first European Games which brought together athletes from 50 countries of the continent. Azerbaijan will host the European Grand Prix auto race, and also 7th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations in 2016.
The bilateral relations between our countries are rapidly developing. In this regard, holding the first meeting of the Joint Commission between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Korea on Economic Cooperation in Seoul city will serve to foster bilateral relations between our countries.
Lastly, I would like to note that our Embassy will always remain committed to promoting steady and continuous development of the bilateral ties, and enhancing mutual understanding, exchanges and cooperation between our two peoples. This will continue to be a centerpiece of our work in 2016 as well.
I express my appreciation to The Korea Post for this opportunity, and wish Korean Government and Korean people wellbeing, happiness and prosperity.
