Ambassador Mohamed Salim Alharthy of Oman and the ambassadors and other senior diplomats of 23 other countries attended with their spouses a tour of the Yonsei Sarang Hospital in southern Seoul on March 4, 2016 at the invitation of President & CEO Koh Yong-gon of the Hospital.
The visiting ambassadors attended a welcome ceremony in the morning where was held an extensive presentation session by some of the senior doctors of the Hospital with a special focus on the joints and spine of the human body.

The presentation was followed by a Korean buffet luncheon that had obviously been prepared with special attention paid to the maintenance and promotion of health of the guests whereas the fare significantly included expensive traditional Korean health foods such as ginseng and seasoned raw beef shreds.

In 2008, the Yonsei Sarang Hospital established the Stem Cell Institute and assigned a total of eight full-time researchers with doctorate and master’s degrees where they are actively and fully engaged in research and development activities. Currently, high-standard research and development activities are carried out at this Institute for autologous adult stem cell treatment. This Institute has been designated by the Government as a clinical test-demonstration facility.
Thus, the papers from the Yonsei Sarang Hospital have been published on a total of 15 different occasions by the internationally renowned, SCI-class medical-academic journals such as The Knee, Arthroscopy, AJSM and KSSTA.
They are considered the largest in number in the world for research papers for the treatment of adult stem cells.
Following the luncheon, the visiting ambassadors and other senior diplomats were invited together with their spouses to take a number of medical tests with special emphasis on the health of the spinal bones.
There also was presentation of beautiful traditional Korean songs by a shapely Korean girl trio who played on traditional Korean musical instruments such as Korean violin and zithers.
Speaking to the guests, CEO Koh said, “The Yonsei Sarang Hospital has been selected by the Ministry of Health & Welfare as a ‘Special Hospital to Invite and Treat Foreign Patients’ and a ‘Specialized Joint Hospital’ and we have also won the ‘Medical Korea Grand Award’ for three consecutive years from 2009 to 2001.”
Then he said, “Furthermore, we have won the Overall First-class Recognition in the area of plastic surgery for safe use of antibiotics.” With a motto for a top-rate research-centered medical facility, he said, the Hospital has been making extensive efforts in a sustained manner to be the first in the area of early recovery of the patients and for this purpose has been making extensive efforts for research and development.
