To increase bilateral cooperation

Mayor Suh Byung-Soo of the Metropolitan City of Busan and his delegation visited Panama on Sept. 27, 2016 in an official visit. According to sources at the Panamanian Embassy in Seoul, Mayor Sur and his delegation, upon their arrival at the International Airport of Tocumen, were received by Ambassador Ruben Eloy Arosemena Valdés of Panama to Korea on behalf of the Panamanian Government. He was also accompanied by Ambassador Sahnghoon Bank of Korea to Panama and Political Specialist Gabriel Nam of the Korean Embassy in Panama.

During his 3-day agenda, Mayor Suh also met with Mayor José Isabel Blandón of the Panama City in order to strengthen relations of cooperation between the two cities together with Panama Canal Administrator Jorge Quijano. They discussed about how to cooperate for strengthening incentive of transit goods and transshipment goods through the Canal of Panama and collaborative Marketing Plan for win-win development between Busan Port and Panama Canal. Mayor Suy and his delegation also visited the new expanded Canal.

Schedule of the Korean party also called for attending a have luncheon hosted by the Friends of Korea Association in Panama and a meeting with Minister Jorge Barakat of the Maritime Authority of Panama in order to exchange views on the best practices and other topics. The tour schedule of Mayor Suh and his party in Panama ended on on Sept. 28, 2016.
