It was the evening of Apr. 22, near exit 2 of Seoul Station. A homeless person who was idly sitting on a flowerbed near the exit swigged the dregs of a bottle of makgeolli (Korean rice beer) left there by other homeless people. A few hours later, the dead body of this homeless person was discovered. In his pocket was a passport from Kazakhstan and a mobile phone that only showed he had received calls from overseas.
Wars of words escalating between South and North Korean leaders
South and North are ratcheting up their potshots against each other’s leaders. The escalating rhetoric could spell trouble for planned joint events to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the June 15 Joint Declaration and the 70th anniversary of Korean independence. North Korean leader Kim Jong-un gave orders to prepare for a satellite launch on Oct. 10, the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Korean Workers‘ Party, a Japanese wire service reported.
