"The@#$&ing old man!"

A family in the US admitted their grandfather intoa nursing home.

After sometime they visit the old man and ask,"How do you feel here?"

He replies, "It's wonderful. Everyone here isso courteous and respectful. There's a musician, 85 years old, who hasn'tplayed the violin in 20 years and everyone still calls him Maestro. There is aJudge, 95-year-old, who hasn't been on the bench in 30 years and everyone stillcalls him Your Honour! There's a dentist, 90 years old, who hasn't fixed atooth for 25 years and everyone still calls him Doc. And there's ME.

As for me, I haven't had sex in 35 years, yet theystill call me, "The @#$&ing old man!"

Shotgunlawsuits” - legitimate defense or ploy to get cash?

Case #1: Thispast February, an office worker surnamed Lee, 35, was sued for 8 million won(US$6,800) in damages by Kang We-suck, director of the film “MissionSchool.”Kang brought the lawsuit because Lee had posted four comments onlinethat were critical of Kang. Desperateman dines and dashes, and hopes for prison time

In O. Henry’sshort story “The Cop and the Anthem,” protagonist Soapy skips out on hisrestaurant bill in the hopes of finding a police officer who will send him toprison on a cold winter day. Captivesof a “clean century”, the legacy of a leper colony

May 17 will bethe 100th anniversary of the opening of Sorokdo National Hospital. On May 10, aweek before the centennial, Japan accepted the final claims for compensationfrom 590 Koreans with Hansen’s disease, also called leprosy, who had beenforcibly quarantined before 1945. In contrast, the South Korean governmentcontinues to appeal a series of court orders to provide state compensation forsterilization and forced abortions after 1945, when Korea was liberated fromJapanese colonial rule. The centennial of Sorokdo National Hospital is not anoccasion for celebration, but rather for reflection on the pain of the past.Surely commemorating the occasion should start with South Korea takingresponsibility for attempting to remain pure by locking away these people.
