Governor Lee Chul-woo and former North Gyeongsang Province Governor Kim Kwan-yong received the Order of Labor at the Vietnamese Embassy in Seoul on Thursday. The medal was recognized for its role in creating human and material support and faithful president of the company, as well as pioneering exemplary cases of the development of Asian cultural communities, friendship and new cultural exchanges, with the opening of the Ho Chi Minh City and Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam co-hosted by North Gyeongsang Province and Vietnam.
The Ho Chi Minh-Gyeongju World Culture Expo 2017 was successfully completed as an event for the world’s cultural festival with the participation of some 8,000 cultural artists from 30 countries, and it has been running year-round as a healing park since 2019.
"We hope that sustainable exchanges between South Korea and Vietnam will continue in line with the government's New Southern Policy, and at the local government level, North Gyeongsang Province and Ho Chi Minh City will develop exchanges and cooperation in various fields for the co-prosperity and development of both regions," Vietnam's ambassador to Seoul Nguyen Bu Thu said.
Kim Kwan-yong, former governor of the ruling party, said, We are pleased to serve as a stepping stone for peace due to various exchanges with Vietnam in the wake of the Ho Chi Minh-Gyeongju World Culture Expo 2017. I will actively help if there is anything I can do for North Gyeongsang Province in the future," he responded.
The Order of Labor, which Kim was awarded, will play in the fields of labor, creativity and national construction.
Among South Korean companies that advanced into Vietnam with medals given to those who achieved one feat, LG Electronics Inc., LS Cable & System Co. and Taekwang Industrial Co. received the Order of Labor Merit in recognition of their contribution to economic development and social contribution activities, and were recently awarded to coach Park Hang-seo of Vietnam's National University of Soccer.
Meanwhile, Lee Cheol-woo, governor of North Gyeongsang Province, sent a congratulatory message to Kim, saying, "Based on his efforts to promote friendly relations between the two countries through culture, we will strengthen and expand exchanges and cooperation in various fields with Vietnam."
