Hong Sang-soo on Feb. 29 named best director at the 70th Berlin Film Festival the award for best director for his latest film "The Woman Who Ran."

According to Korea Culture and Information Service (KCIS), Hong won the award with his 24th feature-length film. "I'm a person who lives in a small world. I don't paint big pictures and try to avoid having such intentions. Instead, I prefer to focus on what's delicate, the smaller details," Hong said.

His movie is about a woman's encounters with three friends while her husband is away on a rare business trip. Actress Kim Min-hee plays the protagonist Gam-hee.

The festival's jury said, "Hong Sang-soo depicts Gam-hee's encounters in a restrained and minimalist way. The film doesn't reveal everything but hints at the possibility of an infinite number of worlds."
