On condition she can staywith her baby

The period of dention of Ms. Chung Yu-ra, daughter of the suspected woman influence peddler Ms. Choi Soon-sil, has been extended to January 30, 2017 by the Danish police authorities in Denmark. This was reported by the Korean-language daily in Seoul, Chosun Ilbo, this morning.
The Danish Court studied the extension of the period of detention of Ms. Chung on Jan. 2, and decided to extend it to 9 p.m. Jan. 30.

This photo, taken from local cable channel JTBC on Jan. 2, 2017, shows Chung Yoo-ra (L), the daughter of Choi Soon-sil at the center of a massive corruption scandal that has led to South Korean President Park Geun-hye's impeachment, being escorted by a Danish police officer. Chung was arrested the previous day on charges of illegally staying in the northern Danish city of Aalborg. (Yonhap) (END)

Ms. Chung’s layer immediately said he will appeal against the decision.
Ms. Chung had been hiding in a house on the outskirts of Aalbor in Denmark when she was arrested as a result of a report to the Danish police provided by a South Korean rews reporter.
Ms. Chung was quoted saying to reproters, “I will return to Korea at any time if I am allowed to stay with my baby,” which was considered a condition-attached expresssion of her intention to submit to the decisions of the Special Investigation authorities.

Reports in Seoul suggested that her statement might have come after a full consultation with her layers over how she should respond to the Special Investigation in South Korea appointed by the law in a sta te where President Park Geun-hye is in a statement suspension of excersie of her authoirites as the President of the Republic of Korea.

Ms. Chung was also quoted as saying, “I met only once with Presdient Choi Kyung-hee of Ewha Woman’s University and Professlor Ryu Chul-kyun” (of the same university). This, too, considered a response that came after full consultation with her legal team.

Earlier on Jan. 2, President Park Geun-hye had an informal meeting with reporters at the Presidential Mansion of Cheong Wa Dae, where she made statements on a wide range of topics concerning the political situation in Korea especially those involving her.

The general press response to the meeting was, "She said all she wanted to say but took no questions." The public response to the meeting was generally that what she was at the meeting would give her no help but would only add to the possibility of a result she would wish to avoid.

Too, there was a wide-spread question as to the propriety of the meeting with the press in that form in her current status where she was depirived of all her authoirties as the President of the Republic of Korea.
