SK Engineering & Construction (E&C) will team up with U.S. telecommunication platform developer Veea to develop and operate a construction safety management system for mobile devices.

According to SK E&C, its CEO Ahn Jae-hyun and Veea CEO Allen Salmasi signed an MOU in an online meeting and agreed to make joint efforts to develop the system, called Smart Safety Platform.

Smart Safety Platform is a comprehensive safety management system that provides field workers and managers with risk information collected and analyzed from big data for industrial accidents through real-time mobile devices.

Construction sites have so far been difficult to build wireless Internet due to special environments such as underground spaces, and wired Internet has been difficult to install until certain construction works are carried out, making it difficult to use safety information data in real time.

Under this pact, SK E&C plans to implement a network system that can provide smooth safety information even at special construction sites.

Veea is a company that has intelligent edge computing platform technology. This technology compensates for the shortcomings of cloud technology that processes all data in central servers, enabling data to be distributed.

SK E&C CEO Ahn said, "We will create differentiated platform services that can improve safety at construction sites with Veea. We will continue to develop useful platform services to realize safety management and create social values."
