Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction is tapping into the PCHE (Printed Circuit Heat Exchanger) market, which is called the "next-generation heat exchanger."
A heat exchanger is a device designed to allow heat exchange between two or more fluids (water, air, hydrogen, nitrogen, etc.) for the purpose of cooling or heating the temperature of the fluid.
A Doosan Heavy official said that PCHE can be reduced to less than one-tenth of the conventional heat exchangers, which can increase heat exchange efficiency by more than 90%.
Doosan Heavy Industries has been recognized for its technological prowess by winning a prototype PCHE for hydrogen charging stations in Korea, and is currently preparing to supply follow-up projects.
Through this installation of a 600-ton high-temperature press, the company also won orders for large PCHE for gas turbines and large PCHE for International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER).
Na Ki-yong, vice president of Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction, said, "We have secured core technologies for Euro design by using professional researchers who have the ability to design heat exchangers for power generation and have early PCHE manufacturing capabilities based on our experience in operating forging press."
