Former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl has recently won the top lace in the opinion polls on the Presidential hopefuls in the upcoming Presidential election slated on March 9, 2022 — exactly one calendar year from today.

According to the results of an opinion survey conducted by Korea Society Opinion Institute (KSOI) and disclosed today (March 8), Yoon won the top place with 32.4% of the votes followed by followed by Governor Lee Jae-myung of the Gyeonggi Province with 24.1% and Chairman Lee Nak-yon of the ruling Democratic Party with 14.9%.

KSOI said that Yoon achieved an approval rating that jumped 17% compared with one conducted six weeks earlier on January 22.

The survey, reportedly commissioned by TBS, is known to enjoy a confidence level of 95% with a margin of error of +/- 3%.

Yoon has been battered severely by many leaders of the ruling camp for the past one year, especially by former Minister of Justice Madam Choo Mi-ae, and this is largely understood to have ultimately boomeranged and caused Yoon to win the top place well ahead of his other contenders.
