Emphasizes Lee Young-ji, chairperson of the Global K-Model Association

"The Global K Model Association is hosting the Global K Model Contest with the goal of promoting Korea's aesthetic and personal content globally and making Korea the center of the global model market," said Lee Young-ji, chairperson of the association.

In an interview with The Korea Post, Chairperson Lee said, "We will provide right directions to those who dream of becoming models by combining their experiences, paths and aptitudes with appropriate model education to foster them as a global model, not to mention a domestic model.”

Our association was established in June 2020, but we will gradually develop it by holding a series of contests in large markets to actively foster Korean models, ranging from kids to juniors, Miss, Mrs. and senior models."

Details of the interview are as follows.

Question: Would you introduce yourself as chairperson of the association?

Answer: I want to give right directions and help those who have a dream of becoming a model by combining the path and aptitude they want to go to with proper model education and help them make the right choice of jobs.

I believe that the dream of becoming a professional model is not limited to young models only.

For senior models, it can be the last career opportunity in life, so we have to be more careful than anyone else, but as a model educator and model senior, I am trying to educate them without confusion by suggesting the proper path and proper direction to become a model.

Furthermore, I will make all-out efforts to create a global K-model contest and the Global K-Model Association to promote Korean aesthetic and personal content to the world and to instill the awareness that Korea is the center of the global market.

Q: Please explain the motive, purpose, and main activities of your association.

A: As a part-time instructor at a cultural center and university with a subject called senior model, I thought that it would not be enough to just teach the growing number of members. Related to this, I and like-minded friends gathered and formed an association for senior models only.

Since then, the association has grown in size and has been able to host contests, extending its reach to all ages, not just senior models.

Our goal is to create a kind and honest association and hold many contests by challenging the big market of kids, junior, Miss, Mrs. and senior models.

Executives of our association prepare and run events and fashion shows for association members, and association members participate in fashion shows, donate their talents, and do senior modeling activities, spending happy days every day.

Q: Would you comment on your association's business plan for this year?

A: Our association provides education for senior models and kids models at all times based on the association’s parent company, the “Six and Sixty Plus Academy.”

A sound and proper education business is expected to have a ripple effect on the entire model market. We will develop into a company that conducts a good education business in the near future.

Monthly fashion shows and donation events are planned for members of the association, and the 4th Global K-model Contest hosted by the association will be held in October.

Q: Please let us know if your association has a foreign-related business or event, or a business agreement with a foreign organization.

A: The winners of the competition organized by the association are divided by age.

And the winners are scheduled to participate in an international competition, called “Ms. World International,” held every August in Florida, the U.S. if the current COVID-19 pandemic problem has been settled.

Q: Do you have any request to the government, such as the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in relation to the model business?

A: In Korea, there are not many stages where senior models and kids models can stand.

Our association has always paid for these events at its own expense. But if the government supports the basic stage and costume costs (It would be good for us to work with a social enterprise to receive donations), it will help us create collaboration with more models. I think it will be more helpful in promoting K-beauty of the nation to the world.
