Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong of Samsung Group ignores questions asked by reporters

Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong of Samsung Business Group arrived at the Office of the Special Prosecutors in Daechi-dong, Seoul this morning (Jan. 18, 2017) in advance of issuance of an arrest warrant against him.

Reporters asked him: “Do you still think that simply you are a victim of President Park Geun-hye?”

“The national insurance money paid by the old people for the benefit of their post-retirement livelihood was used for the purpose of smooth transfer of the management control of the Samsung Group to you. Don’t feel any moral responsibility over this matter?”

“Reports indicate that 43 billion won of the company money were used in bribes. Don’t you feel any responsibility about this matter. Don’t you feel any responsibility on this matter?”

Vice Chairman Lee did not answer any of the above questions but proceeded into the Special Prosecutor’s Office without any response.

Whether or not Lee will be arrested is expected to be decided this evening.

"Accomplice in the Warrant" Name Not Mentioned, but the Tip of the Blade Points to Park Geun-hye

Special Prosecutor Park Young-soo and his team requested an arrest warrant for Lee Jae-yong (49), vice chairman of Samsung Electronics on January 16 on charges of bribery, practically making the bribery charges of President Park Geun-hye official. President Park Should Abandon Plans of a Press Conference and Stand Before the Constitutional Court

President Park Geun-hye is reportedly contemplating another press conference before the lunar New Year holiday. There has been mention of details, such as the venue?a place outside Cheong Wa Dae?and the rent?to be personally covered by the president. It is outrageous, how Park is thinking of laying out excuses instead of reflecting on herself after having made such a mess out of the country. President Park has been suspended of her duties since the National Assembly passed the impeachment vote. She should not even hold a press conference. The press conference she held on January 1 was illegal. She held the event in the form of a meeting instead of an official conference to avoid controversy, but she was accompanied by the public officials of Cheong Wa Dae including the senior secretary for public relations and Cheong Wa Dae‘s budget was used to cover the costs for the event. Yet she still banned the journalists from taking pictures and recording the meeting and simply ended the event after unilaterally saying what she wanted to say.
