Thanks to active promotion of exports of pear, ginseng, and kimchi

Agricultural and food exports in Gyeonggi Province recorded $1.126 billion during the first three quarters of this year, a 13% increase from the same period last year ($997.64 million).

According to Gyeonggi Province on Nov. 12, this is the highest level among exports in the first to third quarters since the export performance of 2008, and the province is expected to exceed its original export target of $1.44 billion by the end of this year.

The provincial government analyzes that the increase in exports of processed foods and ginseng, despite worsening export conditions due to COVID-19, led to the overall increase in exports.

From November to December, the province promoted 10 overseas sales of excellent agricultural products such as pear, ginseng, kimchi, and makgeolli in 7 countries including the United States, Vietnam, and Taiwan, and held an online consultation where overseas buyers, and exporters consulted one-on-one. It plans to accelerate exports by the end of the year.

A provincial official said, "The export conditions are not good in the future due to the increase in global economic uncertainty due to COVID-19, but we will do our best to increase exports as we have achieved good results so far."
