SEOUL, Jan. 25 (Yonhap) -- LG Electronics Inc. plans to unveil two smartwatches featuring Google's new watch version of its operating system next month, an industry source said Wednesday.

Co-developed with Google, the two smartwatches with the Android Wear 2.0 operating system will be released at an annual technology fair, the Mobile World Congress show, in Spain, according to the source.

It would be the first time that LG and Google debut the smartwatches with the new operating system.

The two smartwatches -- LG Sport with a 1.38-inch OLED display and LG Style with a 1.2-inch OLED display -- are believed to be equipped with Google's voice assistant system, Google Assistant.

Officials at LG declined to comment on when the new smartwatches will be available for sale.

However, industry observers speculate that LG will soon begin selling the smartwatches in South Korea.

The National Radio Research Agency, a state organization in charge of granting a sales permit for mobile and electronics devices, approved a sales permit for one of LG's wireless devices last week.

Industry observers believed that the LG device may be one of the two new smartwatches.
