Chosun Ilbo, Dec. 10, 2021
Omicron can be even more fatal for growing children
Omicron, which has now terrorized the world, is the thirteenth variant of the coronavirus.
It has a transmission power far exceeding that of the delta mutation, which has been the boss of the corona virus, and it is known that it has the possibility of mutation of up to 50 species.
There are some species that are not detected at all in the corona test, so they are called stealth omicrons.
However, there was a hasty opinion that it is a 'Christmas gift' to end COVID-19 because it has a strong transmission power and does not cause harm to people like the common cold. But the first death of Omicron in the UK on Feb. 13 caused an emergency.
Anyway, at present, the full picture of Omicron is not fully understood, but considering the power of transmission beyond imagination, we are recommending that people who have completed the second vaccination take a booster shot, so we should all cooperate with the government policy.
To add to my personal opinion, I hope you don't take colds lightly by being deceived by the saying, "It's a blessing because Omicron's symptoms are as light as a cold."

As the saying goes, 'a cold is the root of all diseases', it is still a disease that we should be careful about.
This is especially true for children who are growing up, and the fact that we catch a cold is evidence that the body's immunity has weakened to that extent.
When you are tired or stressed, you are more likely to catch a cold.
Children live with colds, but they do not have enough immunity to fight bad bacteria.
If the immune function is lowered, the wound does not heal easily, and stomach upset or diarrhea is frequent.
In particular, children who do not play outside and only live indoors are bound to lose their immunity.
You shouldn't think thoughtlessly that children usually grow up with colds.
The reason is first, growth stops for two weeks if children catch a cold during the growing season.
The height children need to grow is hampered by a cold.
Second, if a cold is left unattended and leads to rhinitis or sinusitis, the nose is always clogged and the airway is narrowed, which reduces the amount of oxygen going up to the brain, which reduces brain function and pulls down memory and concentration. As a result, it is natural that learning ability declines.
Third, they suffer from chronic headaches and turns into a nervous personality.
There is a saying that ‘a cold lasts 7 days if treated, but a week if not treated’.

Once you catch a cold, even if you take medicine, it will not get better, so you should pay special attention to prevention rather than treatment.
If we compare the cancer we fear the most with the common cold, of course, cancer is difficult to treat. However, prevention is rather difficult for a cold.
Because cancer cells are generated from hundreds to thousands every day, most of them do not get cancer if the body's immune system blocks it well.
However, colds are an annual event that even healthy athletes get sick of several times a year, so prevention is even more important.
If you leave a cold alone, it can spread to a much more serious disease than a cold, such as tonsillitis, rhinitis, bronchitis, sinusitis, otitis media, asthma, and pneumonia.
So, from now on, let's focus on strengthening the function of the lungs, the center of the respiratory system.
This will not only strengthen the tonsils and nose, but also strengthen the immune system, which will make it difficult to catch a cold.
Remember that a healthy physical constitution is an essential element for children's growth.
Be sure to wash your hands after going out and eat a lot of vitamin C on a regular basis to prevent the spread of the cold virus.
Developing immunity with proper eating habits and steady exercise can prevent colds.

Maeil Businss Daily
"Lungs must be healthy to live a long life”
“Italy is one of the countries with the highest number of COVID-19 cases and deaths in Europe.
The reason Italy, which was once a country of vocal music, was devastated as the European epicenter of COVID-19 in March and April was attributed to the fact that millions of people had tonsils removed in the early 20th century.
At that time, there was a widespread social atmosphere that required the tonsils to be removed to perform vocal music.
Those who had their tonsils removed when they were young are now in their 80s and 90s, and they easily got infected with COVID-19 and lost their lives.” (Director Seo Hyo-seok of Pyunkang Korean Medicine Hospital)
“The claim that tonsillectomy might be related to COVID-19 is interesting.”
In Europe, tonsillectomy was popular in the 1930s and 1940s in all countries, not just Italy.
At that time, doctors and music practitioners took it for granted that the tonsils should be excised when the tonsils became red and swollen.

An epidemiological analysis should be done, but the medical environment and aging population alone cannot explain the rapid increase in the number of COVID-19 infections and deaths in European countries.” (A European ambassador)
In Europe, 236,305 and 34,223 infections and deaths were reported in Italy, 29,954 and 41,481 in the UK, 244,209 and 27,136 in Spain, and 152,067 and 29,312 in France, and 186,022 and 8,781 in Germany (as of the 13th).

The tonsils play a role in defending our body by making antibodies that block bacteria and viruses that enter the body through the mouth and nose.
It is located on either side of the uvula and consists of the palatine tonsils, commonly called tonsils, and the pharyngeal tonsils (adenoids) at the back.
Tonsillectomy usually refers to the removal of the palatine tonsils.
Children before the age of 7 have developed adenoids together, so they are usually excised during tonsillectomy.
If you have tonsillitis accompanied by high fever 3 to 4 times a year, you are generally advised to have a surgical removal operation.
Regarding the removal of the tonsils and the decrease in immunity, the Korean Academy of Rhinoscopy said, "It is not known exactly what the role of the tonsils and adenoids is, but it is speculated that they have something to do with the defense against infection.
However, there is no practical role for children over 3 years of age.

In addition, there is no problem because it is to remove the tonsils and adenoids that are abnormally large and cause abnormalities in the body."
Director Seo asserts, "The first step to longevity is the health of the tonsils and lungs, and if the tonsils are healthy, various infectious diseases can be defeated."
Director Seo said that after treating 200,000 people over 50 years, when the tonsils become healthy, rhinitis and asthma disappear, and if asthma worsens without treatment, it progresses to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and pulmonary fibrosis.
He explained, "The tonsils are lymph glands (lymphocytes), a type of white blood cell that is closely related to the immune system. The tonsils correspond to the guard of the Army, Navy, and Air Force.”
Just as sentries are easily pierced by enemies when they are asleep, it means that if the tonsils are not healthy, bacteria and viruses can penetrate and deteriorate lung health.
The lungs are the main ventilation system of our body, and together with the heart, they share the beginning and end of life.

The lung is regarded as the best among all organs in Oriental medicine.
We humans do not take it seriously because we continue to breathe while we are alive, but the deterioration of lung health is the root of all diseases.
By breathing in clean oxygen-rich air, you can supply clean oxygen to the brain and heart through the lungs.
Clear and clean oxygen travels through the blood vessels and travels to every corner of our body, killing bad pathogens and strengthening various organs.
For this reason, in Oriental medicine, the lungs are said to be the backbone of the five organs.
Even in modern medicine, the lungs, along with the heart, are seen as control towers that influence the health of the body. Director Seo said, "Lung health is a shortcut to longevity.
But the lungs are getting dirty every day."
He said, "In addition to the three major allergic diseases such as atopic dermatitis, rhinitis, and asthma, tonsillitis, emphysema, pulmonary fibrosis, and lung cancer are also diseases caused by malfunction of the lungs. Various skin diseases such as freckles, acne, psoriasis, and black mushrooms were also caused by the inability of the lungs to function properly, which inhale air and supply clean oxygen to the body.”
Although antihistamines and steroids are used to treat rhinitis or asthma, the root cause of the worsening is not cleaning the lungs, according to Director Seo.

Director Seo said that when the lungs are cleaned, four changes occur:
The body is light and not tired.
The color of the face becomes brighter.
You do not feel short of breath even after climbing the mountain.
You do not catch cold.
He cites world-renowned physicist Dr. Stephen Hawking, who died in 2018, as an example, and said, “He contracted ALS at the age of 21 and did not exercise for 55 years, but living to the age of 76 showed that his heart and lungs were clean and healthy, so he could live a long life.”
Director Seo said, “Places where there are many elderly people over 100 years old, such as Hunza in northern Nepal, Abkhazia in Caucasus, and Vilcabamba in Ecuador, are high-altitude areas where the air is clean and clear. It shows that you can live a long life by exercising to increase lung capacity and immunity by cleaning your lungs strong and clean.”
