The Korean government has issued a joint statement on March 15 denouncing Russia’s Ukraine invasion along with major WTO member states, including the U.S. EU, Japan, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.

The joint statement is titled, “Joint statement on aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine with the support of Belarus,” the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said on March 18.

The Korean government’s participation in the joint statement is in line with its decision to actively join the international community’s efforts to resolve the crisis through peaceful means as one of its responsible members.

Trade Minister Yeo Han-koo said, “Korea, as a responsible member of the international community, will strive towards strengthening the WTO’s multilateral system and the implementation of trade agreements, while also joining in the efforts of the international community in accordance with today’s joint statement.”
