MG Community Credit Cooperatives held a ceremony to commemorate the 59th anniversary of its founding at the Central Headquarters MG Hall on May 25.

The ceremony, which was held in compliance with the COVID-19 quarantine guidelines, was attended by Chairman Park Cha-hoon, key executives and employees, and award winners.

It was held in the order of rewards for meritorious persons (70 individuals/ 67 groups) who have contributed greatly to the development of Community Credit Cooperatives, awards for social contribution, and commemorations for local win-win day.

May 25 is the anniversary of the founding of MG Community Credit Cooperatives as well as the “Day of Mutual Co-prosperity with MG Community Credit Cooperatives”.

At the ceremony, MG Community Credit Cooperatives which has been striving to contribute to the local community through win-win and social value realization, declared that it would drive sustainable growth and enhance public confidence through sound and transparent ESG management.

In a commemorative speech, Chairman Park Cha-hoon said, “With the strong steps of the past 59 years, MG Community Credit Cooperatives was able to pioneer a new era of achieving 250 trillion won in assets.”

He added, “The 59-year-old MG Community Credit Cooperatives that has grown together with the local community, will now prepare for the upcoming centenary. Through the advancement of ESG management, we will be reborn as a MG Community Credit Cooperatives that is widely used.”

Meanwhile, MG Community Credit Cooperatives started in the Gyeongnam area on May 25, 1963, based on the traditional spirit of cooperation.

As of the end of March 2022, its total assets had grown to 253 trillion won, the number of local cooperatives 1,297, and the number of branches 3,243.
