To celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Dominican Republic

Four Seasons Hotel Seoul located in Gwanghwamun, Jongno-gu, Seoul will hold 'Dominican Week' event from Oct. 3 until Oct. 9 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Dominican Republic.

A variety of Dominican dishes will be presented throughout four different restaurants and bars including a gala dinner event with two Michelin starred chef 'Maria Marte' in Latin America, who visited Korea at the invitation of the Embassy of the Dominican Republic,

Born in Dominican Republic between a pastry-chef mother and restaurant-owner father, Maria Marte developed a love for cooking, helping her father's restaurant since the age of 12. With her innate talent, steady study of cooking, and various experiences, she first began working at 'El Club Allard' located in Madrid, Spain in 2003 and her great career throughout the whole part of cooking led her to a head chef in 2013.

The restaurant received one Michelin star in 2007 and two Michelin stars in 2011, and chef Maria Marte has been selected as ‘Best Head Chef’ for two consecutive years since 2014 at National Gastronomy Award of Spain by the Royal Academy of Gastronomy of Spain. Starting with the award, she has been recognized by many other organizations and reached the top of her profession. She has now returned to her hometown and established her own foundation since 2018 to provide women professional learning opportunities and help them advance into society.

At Boccalino, Chef Maria Marte and our culinary team will present an eight-course dinner on Thursday, October 6. The eight-course meal with an additional drink of aperitivo and digestivo will have diverse flavors and styles of the Dominican Republic. Starting from appetizing rum, crispy paella rice with potato mousse will be served. Following with that, low temperature egg with peas cream, warm prawn salad and mango guacamole, a Dominican-style corn pilaf 'Chechen', seasonal fish with coconut sauce and sweet potato will be served in sequence. Then, dessert which is Pera Piña cocktail made with pineapple, and rum will finally keep your mouth clean after meal. The dinner price is KRW 180,000 per person, and KRW 280,000 when wine pairing requested. Prices are inclusive of VAT.

Moving onto the next day, a special cocktail pairing with five-course dinner is going to be held at Charles H. on Friday, October 7. Guests can enjoy Charles H. bartenders’ hand-crafted cocktails using various beverages based on rum distilled from sugar cane, the main crop of the Dominican Republic. Five Dominican dishes including dessert will be provided in tapas style with the five unique cocktails which helps boosting the perfect Friday night vibe. The price is KRW 200,000 per person including VAT.

During the Dominican Week, guests can also experience a small cake made of the best quality of cacao from the Dominican Republic at 'Confections by Four Seasons', a bakery located on the Hotel lobby. Additionally, our international buffet restaurant 'The Market Kitchen' will represent more than 10 representative dishes of the Dominican Republic through lunch and dinner from Friday, October 7 to Sunday, October 9.
