The JEONJU International Film Festival (JEONJU IFF) has started accepting entries for the 24th edition’s International Competition from Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2022. The application will be available from the start date until Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023, at 17:00 (KST).
The JEONJU IFF doesn’t have any genre limitation for all its competitive and non-competitive sections. This year’s International Competition is also seeking films of various genres from fiction to documentary, experimental, and animation.
However, entries must be completed no earlier than January 2022 and should have at least an Asian Premiere, which means the film should not have been presented in any Asian countries.
Submissions can be applied online at the entry site of JEONJU IFF (https://entry.jeonjufest.kr/en/) and there is no entry fee.
The finalists will be announced through internal discussions and preliminary reviews. For more details, you can inquire to the JEONJU IFF’s International Program Team (email@example.com, +82-2-2285-0562).
In 2022, the International Competition of the JEONJU IFF received 491 entries from 75 countries.
Ten projects made it to the final. After careful consideration, the Grand Prize went to Jacquelyn Mills’ Geographies of Solitude. In addition, Cyril Schäublin’s Unrest won the Best Picture Prize while TOKYO KURDS by Hyuga Fumiari and The Silence of the Mole by Anaïs Taracena picked up the Special Jury Prize.
This year, the JEONJU IFF opened with the goal of festive normalization hoping for the end of the pandemic. During the festival, 217 films from 57 countries were screened 472 times. The total number of audiences at the festival was about a three-fold increase from the previous year. The audience enjoyed JEONJU IFF’s selection from all over the world at the festival. It received reviews recovering a similar level to the pre-pandemic scale.
