Recognition of contribution to job creation and social contribution

Chairman Yoon Hong-geun of Genesis BBQ Group received a government medal in recognition of his contributions to creating jobs for young people and expanding the base of Korean-style fried chicken. The Genesis BBQ Group announced on Nov. 16 that Chairman Yoon was awarded the Moranjang Medal of Civil Merit at the ‘Government Award Ceremony’ held at Jamsil Gymnasium in Seoul on Nov. 15.

The Moranjang is a national medal given to people who have made significant contributions to the improvement of national welfare and national development, in the fields of politics, economy, society, education, and academics. Past recipients include Venerable Pomnyun, Dr. Yu Il-han, and Figure Skater Kim Yu-na.

Chairman Yoon was recognized for his contribution to publicizing Korean chicken as a byword for K-food to the world through the Genesis BBQ Group. BBQ operates over 500 stores in 57 countries around the world.
He also Took advantage of the essence of the franchise business to contribute to local society and create jobs for young people. An official from Genesis BBQ Group explained, “While the job market was frozen due to COVID-19, we recruited officers for discharge and continued various ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) activities, such as sponsoring chicken for socially vulnerable groups such as the elderly and the disabled.”

Chairman Yoon said, “It is an honor to receive the National Medal of Merit in recognition of the performance of ESG management and global business of the Genesis BBQ Group” He continued, “I will try to make the company that leads the future of Korea through continuous investment and development.”
