“We’ll try our best to preserve the festival’s unique value and identity”

The JEONJU International Film Festival Organizing Committee (JEONJU IFF, Festival Chairman WOO Beom-ki) selected MIN Sungwook, the former deputy director of JEONJU IFF, and JUNG Joonho, a film actor, as the new festival co-directors and held a ceremony on Monday, December 26th. While he presented the certificates of appointment, WOO Beom-ki, the Festival Chairman of the JEONJU IFF Organizing Committee said, “Please take good care of JEONJU IFF. It’s the bridgehead of Korean independent and art films, and a leading festival of Jeonju.”

On Wednesday, December 14th, the JEONJU IFF Organizing Committee held a board meeting to vote and appoint the former Deputy Director of the JEONJU IFF, MIN Sungwook, and actor JUNG Joonho as the new festival co-directors. The JEONJU IFF Organizing Committee will maintain the new organizational structure with two festival directors for three years, starting from the day the board made the decision.

At the appointment ceremony, Festival Co-Director MIN Sungwook shared his ambition and said, “JEONJU IFF became a representative festival in the industry as a result of hard work and commitment of many individuals. Building on top of the long years of hard work, we’ll do our best for the future of JEONJU IFF and its growth.”

Festival Co-Director JUNG Joonho also said, “The JEONJU IFF is undoubtedly valuable and symbolic, and it deserves respect. We’ll try our best to preserve the festival’s unique value and identity while being mindful of the hard work that has been put into it to build up to where we are today.”

Meanwhile, the 24th JEONJU IFF is scheduled to be held for 10 days from April 27th (Thu) to May 6th (Sat) in and around Jeonju Film Street in Jeonju.
