Local due diligence by the BIE will take place on April 3-7,

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) announced on March 8 that the Bid Committee for World Expo 2030 Busan signed a cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Busan Metropolitan City and Lotte Holdings for promotion of Korea’s bid to host World Expo 2030 in Busan.

The main purpose of the cooperation MOU is to prepare for local due diligence by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), which will take place April 3-7, and to draw nationwide interest and support for World Expo 2030 Busan.

The local due diligence will serve as an opportunity to demonstrate to the due diligence team not only Korea’s advanced infrastructure for tourism and MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions tourism) industry, but also the Korean citizens’ high-spirited enthusiasm to host World Expo 2030 in Busan as a differentiating factor that makes Korea a unique contender.

The Committee’s Secretary-General Yoon Sang-jik remarked that the nationwide zeal for World Expo 2030 Busan sets Korea apart from its rivals, and that this MOU will demonstrate how both the Korean government and people are eagerly looking forward to hosting the event.

With the final host city selection due this November, the Committee will be giving full measure to successfully win the bid through close public-private cooperation.
