While 34.8% are opposed to nuclear armament

Nearly 63% (62.8%) of the people in the Republic of Korea (south) support nuclear armament to cope with the threats posed by the North Korean regime. This was disclosed by an independent Korean-language daily Munhwa Ilbo published today (Aug. 16, 2017).
Of the total number of supporters of South Korea’s nuclear armament, 25.1% said that nuclear armament was absolute necessary while 37.7% said that they were relatively in support of the nuclear armament.

In contrast, among the 34.8% of the respondents who were opposed to the ROK’s nuclear armament, 22.1% said they were relatively opposed to the nuclear armament of the ROK while 12.7% said they were absolutely opposed to ROK’s nuclear armament.
When the respondents were asked what they thought of a preventive strike against North Korean nuclear and missile positions by the ROK and United States armed force, 64.8% said no while 30.7% said yes.
