Focusing on End-User Markets

The 10th edition of JEC Asia, the annual event 100% dedicated to Composites in Asia-Pacific with focus on end-user markets, will be held for the first time in Seoul in Nov. 1-3, 2017. It will take place at COEX in Gangnam, Seoul.

The three-day event will gather the whole composites value chain and will focus on end- user markets such as Automotive, Aeronautics, Renewable Energies, Building & Construction, E&EE, Sports & Leisure and Transportation. This year, JEC Asia will be hosting the 12th International Carbon Festival, along with the Symposium on Carbon Materials and Composite Technologies. It will create business opportunities in South Korea, Southeast and Northern Asia by joining the only event bringing together all the decision makers in Composites for the Asian Market.

2016 was a highly successful year in terms of the production of composites in Asia. And this trend looks set to continue over the coming five years. Total world production of composites in 2016 totaled 10.8 Mt at an estimated value of 74 B€, up from last year’s figures of 10.4 Mt and 71 B€ respectively. In 2016, the whole of Asia produced 5.2 Mt or 48.1% of global production and 43% of value, according to JEC Group.

Global growth in volume is estimated at a CAGR of 4% per annum; value is anticipated to grow at a slightly higher 5%. By 2021, global volume is expected to reach 12.9 MT, with a value of 94 B€. China is expected to grow significantly more than other regions. Between 2016 and 2021 China is likely to represent 60% of global growth.

“When the Korean composites industry asked us to consider organizing JEC Asia in the Republic of Korea few years ago, we have been working hand in hand with them to build a tailor-made event that is ready to be launch in South Korea from 1-3 November 2017, symbolically for JEC Asia 10th session, said Frederique Mutel, President and CEO of JEC Group.

“As an observer and representative of the industry, we could not help but to notice that the development of Composites materials could only be possible thanks to the close relationship of the Golden triangle made of Government, Industry and Research together with Material Sciences and Engineering. These models of virtuous circles have proven to be positive and fruitful in many countries and South Korea is a very good example. After having signed a few years ago a MOU with the KCTECH, we are happy to sign another one today with the Jeonbuk TechnoPark.”

“We are excited to bring JEC Asia to another great capital city in Asia. The City of Seoul is already very committed to help us hosting this international event with attendees from more than 40 countries. Moreover, Seoul has the perfect infrastructure to welcome exhibitors and attendees with the high-quality standards that JEC Group offers at each of our event,” commented Christian Strassburger, JEC Asia Show Director

In a press conference held on July 12, 2017, French Ambassador to Korea Fabien Penone also expressed pleasure that JEC Asia 2017 will be France’s first industrial show to be held in Asia. “The government’s support and passion of domestic and overseas manufacturers is a good signal of success of the 10 edition of JEC Asia . The three-day Composites event, along a carbon international show, will show strong results,” said Ambassador Fabien Penone

The Seoul Municipal Government is also making strenuous efforts to host JEC Asia 2017 successfully.

GEC Group reports that the Republic of Korea has a fully integrated value chain:
