Natural Resources Canada on Friday announced winners for the 2018 ENERGY STAR Canada Awards, with Samsung Electronics named as one of leading manufacturers in terms of providing energy-efficient products to the North American market.
The Canadian energy ministry said the South Korean tech company became the manufacturer of the year in two categories, namely appliances and electronics.
The ministry described Samsung as "one of the world's leading electronics companies with a reputation for innovation in consumer products such as digital appliances, televisions and smart phones, wearable devices, tablets and printers" on its website.
The ENERGY STAR Canada Awards is based on the evaluation of around 1,500 companies' efforts in promoting energy-efficient products and technologies.
Samsung Electronics also won awards for its sustainability initiatives from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) last month.
