LG Electronics Inc. said Monday it has assisted in the construction of more than a hundred washrooms in Ethiopia in line with its charity efforts in the African country.
The South Korean consumer electronics giant said it has provided equipment and materials for the construction of washrooms in a town in Ethiopia, successfully installing them at 115 households so far.
The company said there were no washrooms in the town before it started the project, and that residents can now live in a more hygienic environment.
LG Electronics said it has also promoted the importance of washing hands to the residents, claiming such efforts will help make the community healthier.
Under the cooperation with the nongovernmental organization World Together, LG Electronics earlier designated a town located 60 kilometers from Addis Ababa as the LG Hope Village, rolling out various projects ranging from the construction of solar-power generators and roads to water infrastructure and farms.
LG Electronics said it wishes to continue projects that can effectively improve the well-being of people. (yonhap)
