Facts and information about Emirati women

-The UAE's approach for empowering women resembles a unique model to be followed in the world. Emirati woman is a partner in the development process and nurturing for future generations and an integral part of the vision of the UAE to explore the future.

-The representation of women in UAE government institutions reached 15%. The number of female members of the Federal National Council in the 16th legislative term was 9 members, representing 22.5% of the total 40 members.

-In 2016, 27% (8 ministers) of the government's new cabinet are women, including the youngest woman minister in the world, aged 23. Recently, the number of women ministers in the UAE has increased to 9.

-The number of women employed in the diplomatic and consular corps in 2017 was 234, including a number of ambassadors representing the State abroad.

-The UAE has made remarkable progress in bridging the gender gap in the educational attainment of girls in basic and university education, with more than 70% of women university graduates.

-Women form 46.6% of the total workforce and occupy 66% of the public sector jobs, and 30% of them are in decision-making centers.

-The number of businesswomen is 23,000, with about $ 15 billion in projects.

-The UAE is committed to provide women with tools and opportunities. For example, through the "1000 Leaders" initiative, the state will provide training and empowering opportunities for women to sharpen their skills and abilities to become leaders in the present and future generations.

-The United Arab Emirates has launched the National Strategy for Empowering Women 2015-2021, which aims to empower and build the capacities of Emirati women, and overcome difficulties in their participation in all fields, and expand their participation in development.
