During her visit to Serba on June 8, 2019
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Korea Kang Kyung-wha extended her appreciation to Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić for paying special attention to Korean companies, including by attending the opening ceremony of a Korean investment company’s factory in Serbia in November last year. She made the remarks during her visit to Servia on June 8, 2019.
She also requested continued attention and support for Korean companies doing business in Serbia.
During the visit, Minister Kang held a meeting and a joint press conference with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dačić, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Ana Brnabić, and met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Nebojša Stefanović.
Minister Kang expressed appreciation to the Serbian Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Interior for actively cooperating in the search operations for the missing from the early stages after the accident involving a tour boat with Korean nationals occurred in Budapest, Hungary, on May 29. Minister Kang also asked the Serbian side to continue its search and support until every missing person is found.
The Serbian side extended sincere condolences and sympathy to the victims of the accident and their families, and stressed that it will do its best until the end so that the search will bear fruit.
The Serbian officials explained that Serbia was mobilizing all available resources and continuing the search operations for the missing in the Danube River near its border. They emphasized the Serbian government’s willingness to actively contribute to the search for the missing.
The Serbian officials also said that the public sector was working together with the private sector, asking residents in neighboring areas for cooperation in the search operations.
They added that the Serbian government was mobilizing available resources, including underwater sonar equipment, and close collaboration with Hungary was underway.
In addition, the Serbian side said that it was impressed by the ROK side’s swift and efficient measures, including the immediate dispatch of an emergency response team to Hungary to handle the aftermath of the boat accident.
In their meeting, the Foreign Ministers of the two countries took note of the development of the ROK-Serbia relations in a range of areas, and with this year marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, they agreed to continue to work together for various events underway in both countries to help promote better understanding and exchanges between the peoples of the two countries, and strengthen cooperation in political, economic and cultural areas.

Minister Dačić welcomed the easing of tensions on the Korean Peninsula since last year, and expressed support for the ROK government’s efforts to achieve complete denuclearization and establish peace on the Korean Peninsula.
In the courtesy call on Prime Minister Ana Brnabić and the meeting with Minister of Interior Stefanović, Minister Kang engaged in an extensive exchange of views on ways to facilitate high-level exchanges and step up cooperation in digital government, the police sector, cybersecurity and counter-terrorism between the two countries marking the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
