The Embassy of Sweden in Korea will host the Sweden-Korea Nobel Memorial Program Symposium 2025 on November 17 from 2:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the Centennial Memorial Samsung Hall of Korea University.

The symposium aims to highlight the academic and humanitarian achievements of this year’s Nobel Prize laureates while exploring future cooperation in higher education, research, and innovation between the two nations.

The event will open with welcoming remarks by Karl-Olof Andersson, Ambassador of Sweden to the Republic of Korea, and Kim Dong-won, President of Korea University. Following the opening ceremony, distinguished scholars from Sweden and Korea will deliver keynote lectures on the 2025 Nobel Prize themes in Physiology or Medicine, Chemistry, Physics, Economics, and Literature.

This year’s symposium goes beyond merely introducing the laureates’ accomplishments—it seeks to honor the spirit of curiosity, collaboration, and progress that drives human advancement. Ambassador Andersson stated, “The Nobel Prize celebrates the courage to push the boundaries of knowledge. This event symbolizes the deep and enduring friendship between Sweden and the Republic of Korea, grounded in our shared respect for education, innovation, democracy, and truth.”

The symposium is supported by the Sweden-Korea Education, Research and Innovation Collaboration (SKERIC) and the Korean Academy of Science and Technology (KAST). SKERIC is a joint initiative among eight leading universities in both countries, designed to foster international networks among emerging researchers and innovators and to promote responses to global challenges. It also aims to cultivate the next generation of leaders who value academic freedom and democracy.

Participation in the Sweden-Korea Nobel Memorial Program Symposium 2025 is open to the public through online pre-registration at the official website (http://nobelmemorialsymposium.kr), where detailed information about speakers and the program schedule is also available.
