The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Korea hosted a launch ceremony on November 14 for the newly published volume “Oman and the Republic of Korea: Fifty Years of Diplomatic Relations,” celebrating five decades of enduring partnership and cooperation between the two nations.

The event was held under the patronage of Zakariya Al Saadi, Ambassador of Oman to Korea, with Lee Kyung-chul, High Representative for UN Security Council Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea, attending as Guest of Honor. The ceremony brought together senior officials from Korea’s foreign ministry, members of the Arab and international diplomatic corps, prominent figures from the cultural, academic, and media sectors, as well as business leaders and representatives from both countries.

In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador Al Saadi expressed gratitude to the attendees and emphasized the strong and lasting Oman–Korea relationship since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1974. He noted that the publication “faithfully captures the spirit of friendship and the history of cooperation that have connected the peoples of both nations,” extending appreciation to all contributors. He added that the book reflects the shared values and mutual understanding that define bilateral relations and expressed hope that it will serve as a foundation for even deeper collaboration over the next 50 years.

Guest of Honor Lee Kyung-chul also delivered congratulatory remarks, highlighting the unwavering friendship built between the two nations over decades. He said it was a great honor to join the ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties, commending the Omani Embassy’s significant role in fostering mutual understanding and cooperation between the peoples of Korea and Oman.

The newly published book, “Oman and the Republic of Korea: Fifty Years of Diplomatic Relations,” released simultaneously in Arabic and Korean, offers an extensive look into bilateral cooperation across politics, economy, culture, education, technology, and more. It reviews key milestones in the development of ties since 1974, including trade, tourism, culture, and sustainable development, while also featuring personal stories from Omanis and Koreans who have lived in each other’s countries. Comprising six chapters, the book includes messages from high-level figures, an overview of each country, political and historical relations, experiences of former ambassadors, cultural exchanges, and collaboration cases between companies and institutions.

The Omani Embassy noted that the event marked “an important milestone in the history of Oman–Korea relations” and reaffirmed the shared commitment of both nations to building an even stronger partnership for future generations.
