German Chamber of Commerce in S.Korea publishes 11th CSR Report
Showcasing environmental, educational, and social contribution initiatives by German Companies in Korea
Korean-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KGCCI) has released its 11th Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report on November 24, highlighting the social responsibility initiatives of German companies operating in Korea. The report showcases a variety of ways these companies contribute to Korean society.
Nine companies participated in this year’s report, including Robert Bosch Korea, Mercedes-Benz Korea, Bayer Korea, AMAGEL Korea, TÜV SÜD Korea, Porsche Korea, Boehringer Ingelheim Korea, Siemens Korea, and Henkel Korea. Each company detailed its CSR activities spanning environmental protection, educational support, and community engagement.
Since publishing its first CSR report in 2014, KGCCI has annually documented German companies’ eco-friendly campaigns and social contribution achievements. Approximately 500 German companies currently operate in Korea, employing around 100,000 people through factories, offices, dealerships, logistics centers, and research facilities, contributing both economically and socially.
Beyond job creation, these companies actively engage in scholarship programs, support for vulnerable groups, charitable initiatives, and environmental conservation projects, promoting sustainable development and social inclusion.
“Over the past decade, German companies have consistently invested not only in the Korean economy but also in local communities,” said Marie Antonia von Schönburg, KGCCI President. “This CSR report demonstrates how corporate collaboration is crucial for strengthening inclusion, solidarity, and sustainable development. It also highlights the positive impact German companies have made on Korean society over the past ten years.”
KGCCI continues its ‘Guide Walker’ initiative, launched in 2023 to commemorate the 140th anniversary of Korea-Germany diplomatic relations, supporting the visually impaired. This year, a record 700 employees and their families participated as guide walkers, promoting the values of inclusion and solidarity.
Additionally, in April, KGCCI signed an MOU with the Seoul Blind Union and Envisions, the operator of the experiential exhibition ‘Dialogue in the Dark,’ to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) education and experiential programs. The KGCCI also actively fosters female leadership through its ‘Women in koRea (WIR)’ mentoring program, established under an MOU with the Seongju Foundation last year.
The CSR report is publicly available for viewing and download on the KGCCI website.
