Lotte Hotel & Resorts hosted a diplomatic lunch on November 21 at Signiel Seoul, inviting ambassadors from over 20 countries, including Canada, New Zealand, and Thailand, to celebrate “Kimchi Day,” the company announced on November 24.

The event was organized to introduce the history and significance of kimchi, a representative Korean dish, and to promote people-to-people exchanges and international goodwill. A lecture on the types and history of kimchi was held, and a special menu themed “Kimchi in Harmony with International Cuisines” was served. Dishes included modern interpretations of kimchi, such as tacos with napa cabbage kimchi, tarakjuk (savory rice porridge) with aged kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), and mushroom risotto paired with baek kimchi and bulgogi.

Participants also joined a kimchi-making contest, gaining hands-on experience of Korea’s traditional kimjang culture.

A Lotte Hotel & Resorts official said, “This event demonstrated how food can serve as an important medium for mutual understanding and communication between countries. We plan to continue offering various programs that introduce Korean culinary culture and serve as a bridge for private diplomacy.”
