With continuous dedication of Prof. Park,
Gayageum, one of Korea’s most authentic instruments, is what brings the sense of bond within the Korean Peninsula, transcending the walls between the South and North. Its exceptional sound of vibration has a mysterious power, which triggers sadness and happiness at the same time.
Such classical motivator is now on its way towards the global stage, beginning to receive its spotlight among various backgrounds.
Professor Park Ji-yoon, who is a gayageum performer, is one of which leading a global movement to transcend the boundaries of different cultures by emerging the Korean Traditional music and Western music.
The intention of such movement is to communicate with the global citizens in a more approachable way and conveying the true value of Korean music with a proper understanding of Gayageum.
She is planning to participate as one of the representative musicians of Korea at ASEAN Music Festival and is busy preparing for the release of gayageum solo album this year. Currently, Professor Park is a member of the Asia Gold Exchange Association, a member of Kim Byung-ho Ryu Gayageum Sanjo Preservation Association, a member of the Korea Gayageum Concertist Association, and Ambassador for Seocho Culture Forum. Professor Park is a popular gayageum performer who has been performing for more than 30 years, working with a dedicated heart to develop Korean traditional music. As a member of the Gyeonggi National Orchestra, she has been performing over 50 solo recitals and International concerts and also has won the President's Prize at the 2006 Uruk Gayageum Contest.
“I hope to be performing in many international events free of charge”, said Professor Park. “This is to promote Korean traditional music throughout all countries” she added.
Recently, with the request from the Fiji Embassy, Professor Park has conducted a magnificent performance, receiving standing applause at an event hosted by the Embassy on Oct. 10, 2019. The performance was free of charge with the purpose to share the Korean culture to Fijians.
