In recognition of outstanding service

Chief Executive Officer Kim Jae-soo of the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp (aT) was reappointed for another year on Nov. 24, 2015 for a third consecutive term, which brings the total length of his leadership of aT to five years.
CEO Kim is an outstanding agricultural expert who has served in the agricultural field for more than three decades, including the posts of vice minister at the Ministry of Agriculture,Food and Rural Affairs and director-general of the Rural Development Administration.
CEO Kim is rated as an outstanding agricultural specialist who is open to adopting new ideas and systems as well as taking the initiative and setting an example for the others to follow.
CEO Kim is known to have made various outstanding achievements as the leader of aT for the past four years?achieving 2 trillion won in the cyber transactions of agricultural and fisheries products and doubling the volume of export of Korean agricultural and fisheries products in spite of difficult export conditions posed by the low yen?thanks to his innovative ideas in the reduction of distribution costs and improving stability of demand and supply of the agricultural products.

Standing out of such feats are his successful introduction of an auction system for Chunran (Cymbidium Goeringii or Spring Orchid), training of people in the start-up of agro-food business and various other activities, including creation of new jobs.
Asked how he felt to lead aT for the third term, CEO Kim said, “The people expect much from the leaders of the public organizations and I feel a great weight on my shoulders as I should be able to fully meet the expectations of the people as well as the appointing authorities.” He said, “I full do my best to fully meet the expectations of the people.”
CEO Kim graduated from Kyungpook National University in 1978 with a major in Economics, from Seoul National University Graduate School of Government Administration earning an MA in Government Administration in 1984, from the Michigan State University in 1988 earning an MA in Economics, and from Chung Ang University in Seoul in 2001 where he was conferred on a doctor’s degree in Economics.
CEO Kim has won many outstanding honors, which include the Order of Service Merit, Yellow Stripes;the Order of Service Merit Red Stripes; a Presidential Citation of the Republic of Korea; and an Order of Chevalier from the French Government.
