Silicon Mitus promoted CEO Huh Yeom to its chairman on Jan. 14, the company said.

Heo Yeom, born in 1952, is a semiconductor expert who majored in electronic engineering at Seoul National University and completed a master's degree in electronic engineering at KAIST and completed the Ph.D. course in electronic engineering at Stanford University in the U.S.

In 1976, he was in charge of new businesses at Samsung Electronics' Strategic Planning Office, and served as head of Hyundai Electronics' media business in 1994, vice president of Hynix Semiconductor in 1999, CEO of Magna Chip Semiconductor in 2004, and CEO of Silicon Mitus in 2007.

"Chairman Heo Yeom established Silicon Mitus in February 2007 to lead non-memory businesses specialized in high-performance, high-efficiency power semiconductors and analog semiconductor solution fields," a company official said.
