General sessions of Green Future Week (May 24-29) to be held sequentially

The '2021 P4G Seoul Green Future Summit' is scheduled to be held for two days from May 30 to May 31. General sessions will be held in sequence.

The general session consists of 10 special sessions held during Green Future Week and five basic sessions held during the summit, and the entire schedule begins with the opening ceremony of “P4G Green Future Week” on May 24.

Each session is supervised by 11 ministries and organizations, including the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Industry, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, which are in charge of the subject of each session, and is pre-recorded or conducted in real time at locations such as Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP).

The opening ceremony of Green Future Week, announcing the beginning of'P4G Green Future Week', is the first official event of the '2021 P4G Seoul Green Future Summit', including congratulatory remarks by the speaker of the National Assembly and opening remarks by the ministers of foreign affairs and environment.

The “Opening Video” will be prepared as a content for future generations, such as children and youth, to call on everyone's actions for a green future. We plan to convey the meaning of supporting the Green Future Weekly and taking steps toward a green future together.

The special session to be held during the “P4G Green Future Week” was planned in consideration of the recent flow of discussions from the international community on climate and environment and Korea's policy interests.

In each session, experts from various fields related to climate environment, such as governments, international organizations, corporations, civil society, academia, etc. participated.

Meanwhile, the basic session will be held on May 31. Among the Sustainable Development Goals [SDGs], “Green Growth and 2030 Global Goals [P4G]” will be held. As a session to discuss the five areas to be promoted, it was also held at the '1st P4G Summit' held in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2018.

In each session, high-level officials from governments, corporations, civil society, and international organizations with expertise and awareness of each subject in '5 areas of P4G focus' participate in keynote presentations and panel discussions on the subject for 2 hours and 30 minutes. The program led by the 'P4G Secretariat' is also held for 40 minutes.

Through this, it is expected that it will be an opportunity for the general public to experience the flow of international discussions on each session topic. There are five basic sessions as follows. ※ Basic sessions (5): ▲Water ▲Energy ▲Food·Agriculture ▲Circular Economy ▲City

The main results of the general session will be summarized in video and reported to the '2021 P4G Seoul Green Future Summit Discussion Session', and detailed results for each session will be announced after the session is completed by the department in charge of each session. .

The entire schedule, including the opening ceremony, is held non-face-to-face in consideration of the quarantine situation.

As with the summit session, the entire schedule including the opening ceremony will be disclosed internally and externally through the 'P4G Green Future Summit Virtual Event Platform', and anyone can freely access and watch it through the official website of the '2021 P4G Seoul Green Future Summit'. .

“The 2021 P4G Seoul Green Future Summit is different from other summits,” said Yoo Yeon-cheol, head of the '2021 P4G Summit'. “It is a fusion-type international conference. It is meaningful in that it sought to implement climate response in each field in order to realize a carbon neutral vision through inclusive green recovery.”
