As a non-governmental organization

At the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Korea, the representative office of the World Youth Association of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Korea was registered as a non-governmental organization (NGO) in the Republic of Korea. To mark the official launching of the association, an official opening event was organized in Incheon City on May 31, 2021.

On this event, Ambassador Vitaly Fen of Uzbeksitanin Seoul said, “In recent years, the issue of youth in Uzbekistan has been considered as one of the priorities of state policy, and on December 25 last year, for the first time in the history of Uzbekistan, the President had a sincere open dialogue with the youth of Uzbekistan by listening to their future goals and plans.”

It was noted at the event that the issue of youth in Uzbekistan has recently been considered as one of the top priorities of state policy. The level of trust placed in youth in Uzbekistan has been significantly strengthened over the years and all opportunities are being provided to them to attain higher education and participate in the development of the country as well as be active citizens in society.

There is much practical work being done in Uzbekistan to provide comprehensive support to the young generation, especially with studying and working abroad. A solid legal framework has been created to protect the rights and interests of young people, to create necessary conditions and opportunities for them and the system is being improved in line with modern requirements.

At the heart of today's event is the fact that any task set by the government of Uzbekistan for the future of young people is of paramount importance.

Vitaliy Fen, Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Korea:

In recent years, the issue of youth in Uzbekistan has been considered as one of the priorities of state policy. On December 25 last year, for the first time in the history of Uzbekistan, the President had a sincere open dialogue with the youth of Uzbekistan by listening to their future goals and plans. As a logical continuation of this, the President declared 2021 in our country as the “Year of Supporting Youth and Improving Population Health”.

The future of any country is first and foremost decided by broad-minded, gifted and dedicated young people like you. All opportunities have been presented for active participation of youth in society as the government has placed unwavering confidence in you over the years.

Today, 16 percent of the world's population consists of young people. However, in Uzbekistan, this figure is higher than 60%. In this sense, Uzbekistan is truly a country of young people.

Today, we are gathered a very important day. For the first time in the history of our country, an organization, which unites the youth of Uzbekistan, has been officially registered in a foreign country, specifically in Korea.

I believe that this organization will be the only force that unites our young people living, studying, and working in the Republic of Korea. I wish good luck to the Representative Office of the World Association of Youth of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Korea. May your future endeavors always be successful and bright. The productivity and feasibility of your work will solely depend on the goals that are being set in the present time.

Furthermore, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Edward Kim, First Deputy Chairman of the Korea-Uzbekistan Business Association, and Mr. Park Nam-chun, Mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City, for their close assistance in the official opening of the association.

I believe that this organization, which unites young people, will make an effective contribution to the further development of relations between the two countries.

I wish you all good health, success in your work and personal life.

Fazliddin Arziev, Counsellor Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Korea:

It is a well-known fact that based on the historical development of a country, the rapid development, achievements as well as the well-being of the people depend on the level of attention paid to the education and future of young people in that given country. In this sense, in recent years, the issue of youth in Uzbekistan has become a priority of state policy. In 2017, at the initiative of the President, the Youth Union of Uzbekistan was established and June 30 was declared “Day of Youth” in our country.

It is symbolic that one of the first laws signed by the President of Uzbekistan as the head of state was the Law “On Youth Policy”.

Publisher-Chairman Lee Kyung-sik of The Korea Post media speaks to the meeting. He said, “Uzbekistan is considered by many Koreans as the closest country to Korea in the world with nearly 200 thousand ethnic Koreans living there.”

Therefore, in a country with more than half of its population being young people, educating them as a strong-willed, enthusiastic, loyal and promising generation of the country is an important factor in becoming one of the most advanced countries in the world.

Today can truly be called a historic day. As the first foreign representative office of the World Association of Youth of Uzbekistan, the representative office in the Republic of Korea has been officially registered as the first Uzbek youth NGO in the world. It is no exaggeration to say that today's event is the result of the continued support of youth in our country at the state level.

I send my warmest regards and best wishes to the World Association of Youth of Uzbekistan, as you are determined to achieve great things in the future, may God be with you.

Shakhzod Turgunboev, Representative of World Association of Youth of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Korea:

The level of trust in youth has been significantly increasing over the years and all opportunities are being provided to them in education for the development of the country as well as in their active participation in society.

The main purpose of the Association is to protect the rights and interests of Uzbek youth studying and working abroad, to help them start their careers in Uzbekistan, to inform our young people working abroad with the laws and regulations of that country and to provide them with practical assistance.

Since the establishment of the association, we have organized numerous projects and events in Korea. However, as our association was not officially registered until recently, we faced issues in the implementation of multiple projects throughout the country.

With the support of our Embassy, the representative office of the Association in Korea officially began its activities today as a non-governmental organization. We, in turn, will try to maximize our efforts in successfully running WAYU.

Farhod Muhammadiev, Head Coordinator of World Association of Youth of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Korea:

This year has been a turning point in the implementation of the State Program on Youth Policy in Uzbekistan. Many incentives have been developed, encouraging your people to study, expanding employment opportunities, supporting entrepreneurship and providing other support for the development of young generation.

It is evident that our government is attempting to create modern, advanced, and innovative conditions for young people in Uzbekistan to study and work. A new system intended for cooperation with Uzbek diaspora living and working in Korea has also been established. I believe that the official registration of the representative office of the World Youth Association of Uzbekistan in Korea is also an example of the youth-centered policy of the government.

Youth is a period of courage, confidence, and enthusiasm. During this period, young people set high goals and strive towards them. Uzbekistan's wide range of reforms created new opportunities for education, skills development, and employment of young people with great enthusiasm and willingness to realize their dreams.

Today, the share of youth in the global population is at 16%. However, the share of young people in Uzbekistan is more than 60% of the population. In this sense, Uzbekistan is truly a country of young people.

The representative office of the World Association of Youth of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Korea will carry out its activities in accordance with the State youth policy.

Recently, under a new comprehensive system, a special institute for the study of youth issues and training of promising personnel was established.

December 25, 2020, is considered a historic day in the lives of young people. The potential reason for this is that the President of the country had an open dialogue with youth for the first time in the history of Uzbekistan. As a representative of young people studying in South Korea, I also watched this dialogue with great interest. The agenda of the meeting was the existing issues of youth.

As a young Uzbek, who studied and currently working at one of the leading companies in Korea, I want to share my idea on how to raise the status of our country. It is my belief that the representative office of the World Association of Youth of Uzbekistan in Korea, which has officially started its operation, will help young people in this regard.
