‘2021 Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards Ceremony’ held on Oct. 28

The '2021 Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards' ceremony was held online on Oct. 28, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Creative Content Agency.
The Popular Culture and Arts Awards Ceremony, which celebrated its 12th anniversary this year, was prepared to inspire the pride of pop culture artists in various fields such as singers, actors, comedians, voice actors, broadcast writers, and performers, and to raise the social status of the pop culture and art industry.

The awards ceremony is the most prestigious government award in the field of popular culture and arts.
The winners of the Popular Culture and Arts Awards are awarded by comprehensively examining various matters such as public service period and domestic and overseas activities and achievements, contribution to related industries, social contribution, and public reputation and recognition.
This year's Popular Culture and Arts Awards were given to a total of 29 people (teams): ▲ Cultural Medal (6 people) ▲ Presidential Citation (7 people) ▲ Prime Minister's Citation (7 people) ▲ Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Citation (9 people/team).

Actress Yoon Yeo-jeong, who received Korea's first Oscar Award for the movie <Minari>, was selected as the recipient of the Golden Crown Order of Cultural Merit, the highest award given to people who have contributed to culture and art.
In addition, the Silver Crown Order of Cultural Merit was awarded to the 'first-generation singer-songwriter' who caused the folk wave in the 1970s, and a living legend of Korean folk singer Lee Jang-hee, and the late film producer Lee Chun-yeon who led the revival of the Korean film industry and a big star of Korean cinema .

The President's Commendation went to ▲ Actor Kim Young-cheol, ▲ Actor Jung Woo-sung, ▲ Singer Kim Yeon-ja, ▲ Singer Lee Juk, ▲ Producer Kim Tae-ho and Writer Park Jae-beom.
Actress Lee Jung-eun, ▲Actress Han Ye-ri, ▲ Singer Woong-san, ▲ Performer Chung Won-young, ▲ Musical Music Director Kim Moon-jeong, ▲ Voice Actor Ahn Gyeong-jin, and ▲ Artistic Director Kim Seol-jin were awarded the Prime Minister's Commendation.

NCT DREAM, ▲Oh My Girl, ▲Actress Lee Je-hoon, ▲Actress Oh Jeong-se, ▲Comedian Ahn Young-mi, ▲Voice Actress Choi Deok-hee, ▲Performer Seo Young-do, ▲Performer Koh Sang-ji, and ▲Model Choi So-ra were awarded the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Commendation.
Meanwhile, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the awards ceremony for the Popular Culture and Arts Awards, was held online through Korea Creative Content Agency and 'The K-Pop' YouTube channel.
