Hwacheon Tomato Festival in Gangwon-do will resume three years after it was suspended due to COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Hwacheon-gun on July 23, Hwacheon-gun will hold the 'Hwacheon Tomato Festival with the 18th Victory Unit (27th and 15th Divisions)' from Aug. 5 to 7 in Sachang-ri Culture Village and Life Sports Park.
This year's festival is the most important feature that local military units such as the 27th Division and the 15th Division will participate as co-hosts. It will be held as a festival of civil, military, and government harmony and mutual benefit.
The festival runs a total of 30 programs in six themed spaces, including △Tomato World Zone, △Tomato Pia Zone, △Tomato Water Zone, △Tomato Happy Zone, △Tomato Market Exhibition Zone,△Tomato Activity Zone.
The Tomato World Zone will be filled with various performances such as eve festival, fireworks, street karaoke, busking, and recreation.
Various events will be held in Tomato Piazon, including the main event of the festival, 'Find the Golden Ring'.
In the Tomato Water Zone, you can use the slide pool, toddler pool, and water gun playground, and in the Tomato Happy Zone, you can experience tomato packs, face painting, and fashion tattoos.
The highlight of the festival, ‘Find the Golden Ring!’, will be held twice each in the morning and afternoon on Aug. 6 and 7. A total of 30 gold rings are offered in the event, and 45 tons of phage tomatoes will be used for the event.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, Hwacheon-gun recommends that tourists wear a mask and apply quarantine rules such as maintaining a distance of 1m.
