Greetings!
I am Kim Chang-gyu, the chairperson of the organizing committee of the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival.
The 18th Jecheon International Music & Film Festival has begun. We welcome all those who visit our festival and would like to express our gratitude to Jecheon citizens, festival staff, and the audience for their great support for the festival to grow and develop.
The Jecheon International Music & Film Festival has become the only music film festival in Korea, celebrating its 18th anniversary this year. In this small and medium-sized city called Jecheon, Jecheon International Music & Film Festival has been able to grow into the representative music film festival in Korea thanks to Jecheon citizens, music film fans, and film festival officials. It was difficult to hold normal events due to COVID-19 in 2020 and 2021, and all film festivals, including our film festival, suffered greatly. However, this year, our film festival is being held normally as it is free from the threat of COVID-19. Therefore, we have prepared new and more diverse programs for Jecheon citizens and many music film fans who have waited for the two years and who have continuously loved the festival for 18 years. This year, we will hold the opening and closing ceremonies in front of Uirimji History Museum at Uirimji Reservoir which has been a resting place for Jecheon citizens for a long time, and Jecheon Airfield will make its debut as the official venue for the festival, after it was lifted from military facilities and returned to the Jecheon citizens. This is for the purpose of sharing joy with more Jecheon citizens in downtown as we move the existing events held around Cheongpung Lake to the city. You will be able to feel a different charm from the Cheongpung Lake stage.
This year’s festival has prepared a variety of programs, including Special Concert of Justin Hurwitz who is the film composer of La La Land and Whiplash, Film Concert where orchestras play film music live on-site while screening a film, and One Summer Night, our festival’s flagship program. Like the festival slogan “a tempo: return to original tempo”, I hope you return to your daily life and enjoy Jecheon International Music & Film Festival to your heart’s content. Thank you.
