For the relocation of DAPA Office to the Daejeon City

The Daejeon City announced on Sept. 15 that the city has signed a business agreement with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) and the Seo-gu Daejeon Ward at the City Hall conference room for the move of the DAPA to the Daejeon City.

Under the agreement, Daejeon City will actively support the construction of the new office for the move of the DAPA, cooperation for the first-phase move, and smooth settlement of the move of the employees.

The DAPA decided to move some departments, including the headquarters, to Seo-gu in the first half of 2023, and to secure a government building on the unused area of the estate of the Daejeon City government. Move of all the different offices of the DAPA will be completed by 2027.
In addition, the Seo-gu Ward, together with Daejeon City, decided to support administrative support such as moving in for the relocation of Daejeon, information on the residence of employees, and permission for the construction of applicants, and stable settlement of migrant employees.
In addition, the agreement agencies decided to organize and operate a working-level council to effectively carry out the cooperation areas stipulated in the agreement.
In the first half of 2023, the DAPA decided to relocate some departments, including the command functions, to the Seo-gu Ward, and to build a new government building at the idle site of the Daejeon government building.

In addition, the Seo-gu Ward of the Daejeon City, together with City authorities, decided to offer administrative support such as moving in for the transfer of DAPA, information on employee residence space, and administrative support, and stable settlement of migrant employees.
The organizations joining the agreement also decided to organize and operate a working-level council to effectively carry out the cooperation areas stipulated in the agreement.

Daejeon City is expected to create a synergy effect in creating a defense innovation city in Daejeon by relocating the DAPA and the defense cluster to be built in the Ansan Industrial Complex. 
It is expected to serve as an opportunity to leap forward as a city with competitiveness in the defense industry.

Mayor Lee Jang-woo of Daejeon City said, "I would like to express my deep gratitude to the employees of the DAPA who decided to move to Daejeon after leaving a stable living place. I will spare all the support for the DAPA to successfully settle in Daejeon."

Mayor Lee also said, "Let's make a core city of Korea's defense industry with DAPA, the Agency for Defense Development, the Defense Trust Center, and local defense companies."

Meanwhile, DAPA, which was opened in 2006, has about 1,600 employees in three headquarters and 107 sections in its organization. It was confirmed as the national task of President Yoon Suk-yeol and its relocation to Daejeon was decided.
