South Korea will invest a combined 134.3 billion won into civilian-military cooperative projects this year in a bid to develop high-end technologies for both sectors, the government said Tuesday.
Eight government ministries and agencies will participate in the investment, with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration paying 77.3 billion won and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy covering 29.5 billion won.
Some 117 billion won will go into 147 projects to develop technologies like camouflage films that are useful for both military and the civilian sectors, while 34 projects to share each other's technologies, including drones, will get 10.8 billion won.
The government will pick laboratories and research centers for the projects in April. (Yonhap)
