Argentina hosts wine-tasting event

Ambassador Jorge Roballo of Argentina in Seoul hosted a wine-tasting event named Wines of Argentina at the Banyan Tree Club & Spa Hotel on Nov. 18, 2013. A wide variety of wines of Argentina were shown to the guests to be sampled.

Many guests attended the event from various segments of Korean society as well as from the Seoul Diplomatic Corps and the international community.

Among the Korean guests in attendance were National Assemblyman Kim Tae-kyung (ruling Saenuri Party) and business leaders.

Among the foreign guests were many foreign mission chiefs who included Ambassadors Hernan Brantes Glavic of Chile, Hany Moawad Selim Labib of Egypt, Nikoloz Apkhazava of Georgia, Ms. Louisa Aba Hanson of Ghana (CDA), Dionisios Sourvanos of Greece, Luis Arias Romero of Spain, Vasyl Marmazov of Ukraine, and Dr. Alba Florio Legnani of Uruguay.

Speaking to the guests Ambassador Jorge Roballo of Argentina said, “I give with huge welcome to this Fifth Great Argentine Wine Tasting event organized by the Embassy of Argentina and developer of Wines of Argentina led by General Manager Mario Giordano.

“It is good to note that the Argentine Republic is the fifth largest wine producer of the world and key player in the wine industry. Years ago, its products stood out at large international competitions.”

Detailed introduction of the Argentine wines was made by General Manager Mario Giordano of “Wines of Argentina.”

He said in part: “Welcome to the 5th presentation of Wines of Argentina in Korea, 3 consecutive meetings, it will allow them to see more than 200 different wines, which will define the great diversity that our viticulture proposes. In this opportunity will present wines from Mendoza, San Juan, Patagonia and Salta.”

Then he said that “our institution, entity responsible for promoting the image of Argentine wines around the world, develops again another action based on the mission of WofA: to collaborate in Argentina’s consolidation among major wine exporting countries in the world and contribute to the overall success of Argentina's wine industry through brand building "Argentine wine."

“That is why,” said, “based on the strategy that Argentina has developed for the Asian market, especially for Korea, we believe that today's session will provide a great opportunity for all commercial bow and communication.”
