The Daehan News and The Korea Post media co-host the 6th Annual Hanbok Festival in Seoul on the theme of “Faithfulness to the Nation, the Family and the World” at the Diamond Hall on the 22nd floor of the Seoul Plaza Hotel in front of the Seoul City Government building on Dec. 7, 2017.

A total of over 200 distinguished guests attended the event from all walks of life, especially the cultural and business organizations and including some 30 senior foreign diplomats and family members.
This year, unlike in the past, the Festival was expanded to include the traditional National Costumes of many different countries of the world diplomatically represented in Korea.
True! Participation of the diplomats and their families from various embassies in Seoul added rare sparkle to the event rendering the Festival all the more colorful as well as meaningful and international a sheer contrast with the similar events participated in only by Koreans at the previous festivals.

Participating in the fashion event with their own national costumes on that evening were an estimated some members of the Seoul Diplomatic Corps (SDC), including Mrs. Lyudmila Fen (spouse of the Ambassador of Uzbekistan) accompanied by the family members of the senior diplomats of the Embassy
Among other participants from the SDC were Charge d’Affaires Diaa Hammad of Egypt, Deputy Head of Mission (DHM) and Mrs. Diomedes Carles of Panama, DHM Panko Panov of Bulgaria with their children.

Then there Mrs. Maria Luisa Ramos (spouse of the Consul General of the Philippines) and Mrs. Cheryl Navarro (attache of the Philippine Embassy), Defense Attache and Mrs. Osler Garcia of Colombia with their son, Capt. & Mrs. Daniel Pinzon (assistant operations officer of the UNCMAC), and Second Secretary Mohamed Lsssaad Baghdadi of Tunisia.
Also participating in the Hanbok-International Costume Show from the Korean society were various civic figures from all walks of life, including Chairperson Shin Hyeon-sook of the Korean Filial Piety Culture Center, Chairman Jang Jin-yeong of Evaluation Committee of the Korea Filial Piety Cultural Center, and Advisor (Former Chairman) of the Federation of the Hanbok Organizations.

There also were Vice Chairman Kim Mong-soo of the Korean Fine Arts Association, CEO Yom Jun-ho of Samdo Food Ltd., CEO Choi Woo-suk of Taekong Food Co., Ltd., Chairperson Yoo Young-sun of Korea Insulo Co., Ltd., and Lady Representative Kim Hee-kyung of Pion Tech Co., Ltd.
There also were leading figures from the cultural circles in Korea, who included Chairman and Mrs. Kim Sang-leem of the Space Group of Korea.
Emceeing the event from the beginning to the end were popular radio-TV personalities, popular announcer Lee Joon-hyuk and Ms. Lee Chae-lin (winner of the First Place at the World Miss University in 2017).

The Top Prize of the event offered by the Minister of Culture, Sports & Tourist of the Republic of Korea went to Miss Seo Yoo-ri (a 4th year grader at Mok Un Primary School in Seoul), while the Seonbi Prize (awarded to a grown-up person) went to CEO Choi Woo-suk of Taegong Food and the Sinsaim Dang Prize to University Student Kwon Eun-ji.
Winners of the coveted prizes among the participants from the Diplomatic Corps were Defense Attache and Mrs. Osler Garcia of Colombia with their son who won a coupon for a set of Hanbok Korean costumes.
There also were various cultural events at the international costume parade, which included presentation of plaques of citation in memory of the Festival.

Speaking to the guests in a congratulatory message, Publisher- Chairman Lee Kyung-sik said: “Through the international costumes displayed today by the families of the members of the Seoul Diplomatic Corps, we also introduce the costume cultures of a number of different countries of the world. Excerpts from the congratulatory remarks by Chairman Lee of The Korea Post:
My heart-felt welcome to all the guests from the international community as well as from within Korea.
Today, we host the 6th annual Hanbok-International Costumes Festival on the theme of the traditional Korean values, Loyalty and Filial Piety, where are shown traditional costumes of Korea and a number of countries from around the world.
Through the Hanbok Costume Show, we introduce to the world the wonderful appearance and quality of the traditional Korean costumes to highlight the traditional beauty of the Korean people.

Through the international costumes displayed today by the families of the members of the Seoul Diplomatic Corps, we also introduce the costume cultures of a number of different countries of the world. Korea is known as a country of courtesy and this value remains unchanged throughout the millennia of years in Korea together with the unchanging value of loyalty to the state and filial piety for the parents.
