Attended by students of Hanyang University in Seoul

The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman to the Republic of Korea embarked on a series of events by holding a reception on Jan. 15, 2015 at the Embassy for Korean students from Hanyang University in Seoul, Korea, who are travelling to Oman under an academic student exchange program between the Middle East College based in Oman and Hanyang University.
The Middle East University, which is situated inside the technology hub of Oman, the Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM) campus, is scheduled to host 20 students from Hanyang University for one month starting from Jan, 23 under a student exchange program signed between Omani Middle East College and Hanyang to achieve its vision of activating student exchange programs by creating platforms for students from all world universities to exchange their experiences.

The program includes a variety of activities and events, including cultural tours. The Korean students in turn will lecture the Omani college students of Middle East on Korean language, traditions and customs, and also deliver some lessons on introduction to the Korean civilization and history.
The reception program organized by the Embassy is in the context of a series of cultural events regularly organized by the Embassy, for promoting historic, cultural, civilization heritage of Oman.
H.E. Mohammed bin Salim Alharthy, ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the republic of Korea, welcomed the guests, expressing the Embassy’s constant and strong concern to strengthen Omani-Korean relationship, and gave visual presentation about the history, civilization, some features of modern renaissance, cultural and tourism potentiality of the Sultanate of Oman. Ambassador Alharthy indicated the importance of the student exchange which helps exchange views, knowledge and experience, as culture is regarded as a bridge of understanding between nations, which in turn contributes to strengthening cooperative relationship between nations. He concluded his speech by answering the questions from the students and the embassy served local Omani coffee, dates and sweet scented with incense.

Last year (2014), on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Oman and Korea, the Embassy held a series of events which reached a total of about 40 events including the monthly open house which is held at the Embassy, the participation of guest of honor at the international Seoul book fair, the visit of HE former President Lee Myong-Bak to the Embassy and participation as guest speaker at the Oman economic conference, holding several photo exhibitions, the Tolerance and understanding exhibition at Korea foundation, series of lectures at several universities, and many other cultural activities.
