Dangjin City authorities provide on-site consulting for farming strawberries as top quality agricultural products

In conjunction with the National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science, Dangjin Agricultural Technology Center held on June 22, 2015 an on-site consulting session at pilot complex of farming strawberry as one of top quality fruits and vegetables for farmers who are cultivating strawberries.
At the consulting session, the two organizations offered lectures on methods of good seedlings, managing diseases and insects in seedling raising stage and managing facility environments for producing best quality strawberries. And then consultants visited pilot complex of farming strawberries to diagnose state of growth of seedlings and deliver knowhow for producing high quality strawberries.
In addition to the consulting session, Dangjin Agricultural Technology Center will continue operation of the strawberry farming course at the local agriculture technology college, and disseminate techniques of installing carbon dioxide application facilities and replacing polyolefin film that can improve light transmittance to strawberry growers so that they can produce high quality strawberries with rich phytamins.
An official at the Center noted, “Taste and quality of ‘Haenaru Strawberry’ produced in Dangjin are widely recognized as the Rural Development Administration designated its fields as a pilot complex of producing top fruits and vegetables in 2014. Since ‘Haenaru Strawberry’ products are popular at large super markets as fresh agricultural products in winter between November and next April, we will promote strawberry as a representative product of the City.”
Weighing 23~30 grams each, ‘Haenaru Strawberries’ are sweet and refreshing with sugar content of over 12 brix, and they were evaluated as the top quality products by the Rural Development Administration last year. k
