Chairman Kim Young-hoon: “AI–Bio convergence will drive life-extension technologies”
Daesung Group held the 2025 Daesung Haegang Science Forum on November 4 at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Seoul, under the theme of “Bio Innovation in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.”
Experts at the forum highlighted how artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly accelerating innovation across the bioindustry—from fundamental biotechnology to medical services.
Hwang Hee, CEO of Kakao Healthcare, stated, “AI is now answering the questions of whether it can provide better treatment than traditional methods and whether it can enhance the efficiency of national healthcare systems. The industry’s efforts to transform complex AI technologies into accessible healthcare services are beginning to yield tangible results.”
Lee Sang-yup, Vice President for Research at KAIST and Vice Chairman of the National Bio Committee, presented cases of integrating AI into systems biology research, emphasizing that “AI is demonstrating research efficiency far beyond human capability.”
Daesung Group Chairman Kim Young-hoon said, “The convergence of AI and biotechnology will create revolutionary and disruptive technologies in the life sciences. We hope this will lead to the realization of humanity’s dream of life extension and strengthen national competitiveness through K-biotech.”
