Incheon is rapidly solidifying its status as a globally recognized international city, driven by its successful hosting of 18 major international events this year alone. The city has strengthened its global presence across climate, economy, industry, and cultural sectors, earning praise for its expanding international influence.

Among the key events held this year were the APEC Incheon Senior Officials’ Meeting Week, the International Climate Finance Forum, the Asian Architecture Academic Conference, the World Korean Business Convention, and the International Security Industry Expo—all significant global gatherings that elevated Incheon’s city brand value.

According to the city government, these international events generated an estimated 123.7 billion KRW (approximately USD 95 million) in economic benefits. The APEC preparatory week alone created a production inducement effect of 50.7 billion KRW and generated 732 jobs, reinforcing Incheon’s image as a “global hub city.”

Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok stated, “Incheon has firmly established itself at the center of the international stage,” adding that the city will continue to strengthen its diplomatic networks and global cooperation efforts to solidify its status as a world-recognized metropolitan city.

As the current chair of the Korea Association of Metropolitan and Provincial Governors, Mayor Yoo will preside over a major meeting with foreign ambassadors on December 5 at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul. The event is expected to gather diplomats from various countries to discuss expanded cooperation between local governments and foreign missions.
